Scientists recently discovered a new species of centipede in New York City. The idea of a new species being discovered in the middle of Central Park is amusing, but doesn't top the story - so cool I have to suspect it's apocryphal - that the great entomologist Edward O Wilson once discovered a new species of ants in the offices of the World Wildlife Fund.
